whichnewcar.ie has been checking out the new Renault 4 E-tech at the Irish press launch.
Following hot on the heels of the new Renault 5, Renault have just launched the new Renault 4 E-Tech. Like with the 5 Renault have once again chosen to revive the name of an icon like the original Renault 4 but with retro looks and a modern twist…. It’s an EV.
Most may think the 4 should sit below the 5 in the line up but the new Renault 4 is actually larger than the recently launched 5 and sits above it in terms of price also.
A brief drive at the Irish press launch in county Wicklow confirmed that Renault have indeed done their homework as the new 4 E-Tech blends the modern and retro quite nicely. Like most EV’s it proved quiet and refined. The predicted range of 285 km from 85% charge on my test car won’t suit everyone but will suffice for the urban based buyer no doubt.
The Renault 4 E-Tech is now available at dealerships from €27,995 (including SEAI grant) and from €199 per month with Renault’s 261 PCP offer with 3.9% APR.
Available for 261 now in three trim levels – evolution, techno, and iconic, and next summer with the option of the electric “plein sud™” canvas roof on the latter two, the Renault 4 E-Tech electric continues the original Renault 4’s sense of go-anywhere practicality, with its increased ground clearance and suspension optimised for a smoother, more comfortable ride.
Evolution is available with 40kwh battery with 120 hp and the 52 kWh battery powers a 110 kW (150 hp, 245 Nm) electric motor that accelerates the Renault 4 E-Tech electric from 0-100kmh in 8.2 seconds, with a driving range of up to 410KM*. Techno and Iconic are also available with the 52kWh battery .
Seven body colours are available including an exclusive new shade – Hauts-de-France Green – that pays tribute to the Île-de-France Blue of the 1960s. It joins Glacier White, Urban Grey, Diamond Black, Carmin Red, and Cumulus Blue and Terracotta Bronze while the option of a contrasting Diamond Black roof – with or without a matching Diamond Black bonnet – is available on techno and iconic models. All models in the range wear 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels as standard from techno.
We will have a full and comprehensive road test of the new Renault 4 E-Tech shortly and will reserve full judgement on this new Renault until then.
